Karen Herren, JD, is the Legislative Director for Marylanders to Prevent Gun Violence. Karen practiced law in California and Washington, D.C., with experience in criminal prosecution and defense, commercial litigation, and agency law. She has been an advocate on gun violence prevention related issues for about 7 years in various capacities and joined the Marylanders to Prevent Gun Violence team in 2019, stepping into the Legislative Director role early in 2020. Karen has a degree in Communications and Political Science from East Carolina University and a Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University School of Law. Karen has called Maryland home for over twenty years.
Marylanders to Prevent Gun Violence is proud to be a part of the Maryland Violence Prevention Coalition. MVPC is a coalition of organizations with a joint mission of reducing violence and improving living conditions in underserved Maryland communities. Using a community-led approach, we seek to empower the voices often neglected and educate elected officials and the public about urgent community needs.
