Karen Herren

Executive Director

Karen Herren, MDPGV

Karen has been with MPGV since 2019 and was Legislative Director until stepping into her current role of Executive Director. In her prior life, Karen practiced law in California and Washington, D.C., with experience in criminal prosecution and defense, commercial litigation, and agency law. Karen has a degree in Communications and Political Science from East Carolina University and a Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University School of Law. Karen has called Maryland home for over twenty years. Karen was instrumental in leading the advocacy efforts in Annapolis to pass legislation banning ghost guns and the recent passage of a stronger child access prevention law (Jaelynn’s Law), the Firearm Safety Act of 2023, and stronger permitting requirements for the public carry of firearms.
